Chosen by the Los Angeles Times as One of the Best Books of the Year
Horse Heaven by Jane Smiley ain't what I'd usually grab off the shelf, but it's got horses, and that's enough to peak my interest. This book dives deep into the world of thoroughbred racing, which is right up my alley given my love for anything with horsepower. Smiley's storytelling felt genuine, and the attention to detail in the racing scenes was something else. It's a bit of a change from my usual reads, but it kept me hooked and made me appreciate a different kind of hustle.
