A town—where everyone seems to be named Johnson—stands in the way of the railroad. In order to grab their land, robber baron Hedley Lamarr sends his henchmen to make life in the town unbearable. After the sheriff is killed, the town demands a new sheriff from the Governor, so Hedley convinces him to send the town the first black sheriff in the west.
Now this is the kind of comedy that tickles my funny bone. Blazing Saddles is a wild, uproarious take on Westerns. It's got the kind of humor that's as bold as the open range, with jokes flying as fast as the bullets. Cleavon Little and Gene Wilder's performances are top-notch, and the whole thing's just a hoot from start to finish. It's a far cry from my usual action flicks, but it was a breath of fresh air.
