This flick takes you on a deep dive into the raw realities of the 60s and 70s Black Power movement. With a standout performance from Daniel Kaluuya, it really feels like a gritty homage to the struggle and sacrifices made. The energy and intensity of the narrative resonate on a cultural level, especially when reflecting on the systemic oppression and resistance that are still relevant today. Kaluuya’s portrayal of Fred Hampton is electrifying, capturing the essence of a revolutionary leader in a manner that feels both authentic and urgent.
This joint was straight fire! The story of Fred Hampton and the Black Panther Party was raw and real. The acting was on point, especially Daniel Kaluuya, who brought that authenticity to the screen. The soundtrack was tight, and the film really spoke to the times, touching on social justice issues that are still relevant today. It made you think and feel, which is what good cinema should do. Definitely a must-add to the library.
