A young girl risks everything to prevent a powerful, multinational company from kidnapping her best friend - a fascinating beast named Okja.
Bong Joon-ho strikes again with a blend of whimsy and grotesque that only he can deliver. Okja is a poignant exploration of friendship and corporate greed, set against a backdrop that's as visually arresting as it is heart-wrenching. The film's vibrant color palette and imaginative set pieces remind me of the best aspects of Snowpiercer, but with a more focused narrative. It's a powerful commentary on capitalism and environmentalism, wrapped in a coming-of-age story that's both tender and fierce.
