Rex and Saskia, a young couple in love, are on vacation. They stop at a busy service station and Saskia is abducted. After three years and no sign of Saskia, Rex begins receiving letters from the abductor.
This psychological thriller left me cold in the best possible way. Unlike the slick Hollywood versions, this Dutch film retains a raw, unsettling edge that stays with you long after the screen goes dark. Caan's stoic performance grounds the film in a palpable sense of dread. It's a stark reminder of how thin the line is between reality and the cinematic representation of it. A chilling piece of work.
