Bufph ("Platform") is developed and operated by Bufph ("Developer"). Bufph is available on iOS, Android, and the web. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of your data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and safeguard your personal information when you use our Platform.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information to provide and improve our services:

Personal Data: When you create an account, we may collect your name, email address, handle, location, language preferences, and profile picture. Any photographs uploaded during an item scan are used solely to identify the item and are not shared publicly or with other users.
Library and Activity Data: We collect information about items you add to your library, including your ratings, watchlist status, read/watched status, and any comments or notes you attach. Items you mark as read or watched may be shared with users who follow you, in accordance with your privacy settings.
Social and Connection Data: We collect information about the connections you make, including who you follow and who follows you. Activity you choose to share (such as marking an item as read or watched) is visible to your followers in their feed.
Usage Data: We may collect data on your interactions with the Platform to enhance functionality, personalize content, and recommend similar items.
Device Data: Information about your device, such as model, operating system, and Platform version, may be collected for analytics, troubleshooting, and security monitoring.
AI Processing Data: Some Platform features utilize AI to enhance user experience, such as recognizing scanned items, improving recommendations, and providing automated assistance. AI processing is conducted in accordance with our data security measures.
Third-Party Integration Data: If you connect Bufph to third-party services or tools (such as AI assistants via the Model Context Protocol), those integrations access only the data necessary to perform their function, based on the permissions you grant. We do not collect extraneous data through these integrations.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your data for the following purposes:

To operate, maintain, and improve the Platform.
To provide personalized recommendations and search results.
To power social features, including your feed, connections, and notifications.
To enable third-party integrations you choose to connect, providing only the data necessary for those integrations to function.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell or rent your personal data. We only share your information in the following situations:

With other Bufph users and, where you have opted in, with the general public. Items you mark as read or watched are visible to your followers in their feed. Your watchlist and any items not marked as read or watched remain private and are never shared. If you enable a public profile in Settings, your profile — including your name, location, ratings, and recent activity — becomes a publicly accessible web page visible to anyone, including people who are not Bufph members. You can disable your public profile at any time from Settings.
With third-party integrations you explicitly connect to Bufph (such as AI assistants or other tools). These integrations receive only the data necessary to perform their function and are bound by their own privacy policies.
With trusted service providers who help operate our Platform, under strict confidentiality agreements.
When required by law, legal process, or government request.
If necessary, to protect our rights, security, or to prevent fraud.

5. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to safeguard your data from unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure. Our services are hosted on cloud providers with strong privacy and security controls.

6. AI and Automated Decision-Making

Our App utilizes AI to provide recommendations, improve search results, and optimize overall user experience. AI-driven processes do not make legally binding decisions about users. If you have concerns regarding AI processing, you may contact us for further information.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your data only as long as necessary for the purposes described above. You may request data deletion by contacting us at support@bufph.com. You may also delete your account directly from the Account page in Settings. Account deletion is permanent — all associated data is removed and the email address cannot be used to create a new Bufph account for one year following deletion.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including:

Accessing, correcting, or deleting your personal data.
Restricting or objecting to data processing.
Requesting a copy of your data in a portable format.
